Dr. Samantha Childers is board-certified in foot surgery. She founded North Central Texas Foot & Ankle, with locations in Decatur and Roanoke, Texas, in 2014 with her husband, Dr. Ricky Childers.

Dr. Childers is a native Texan and was raised in Colleyville where she attended Grapevine High School and Texas A&M University in College Station. Dr. Childers graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. After suffering a severe ankle sprain while playing soccer in college, she sought treatment from a local podiatrist. The podiatrist inspired her to want to learn more, so she chose to shadow him as a way to expand her knowledge.

Following graduation, Dr. Childers moved to San Francisco, California, where she attended the California College of Podiatric Medicine. She eventually received the Phillip Gardner Award for Outstanding Student in Podiatric Medicine and remained in San Francisco to complete a three-year surgical residency program at the San Francisco Bay Area Foot and Ankle Residency Program at Kaiser Permanente. During her residency, Dr. Childers was involved in multiple research projects and co-authored several papers published in the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery and the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association.

In 2008, Dr. Childers accepted a position with a large multi-specialty group in Sacramento, California, where she practiced podiatry until 2013. She served in several leadership positions as vice president of the Sacramento Valley Podiatric Medical Association and on the Academic Affairs Committee for the group from 2011 – 2013.

In addition to being a board-certified foot surgeon, Dr. Childers is also wound care certified through the American Board of Wound Management, which she utilizes at a wound care center using hyperbaric therapy techniques.

Dr. Childers and her husband also volunteer with an organization called Love for the Least which they support financially and through mission trips, providing medical care for people in Kurdistan affected by ISIS and the devastation in that area.

Outside of her podiatry practice and volunteer work, Dr. Childers enjoys being with family, cycling, and traveling.
